The Price Tag

The price tag on Hugo Boss clothing is always very high quality. It is made from two sheets of plastic, not paper or card. The first is a translucent sheet which folds around a second sheet which is the same colour as the line that the garment is from. The tag is connected by a high quality plastic tie, which is translucent and is the same colour as the inner plastic sheet on the tag itself. This tie is always connected to the garment with a silver coloured paperclip. If the item that you have bought has a tag which does not meet these requirements, then it is likely that you have a fake, or a Boss garment outside of the Green, Orange and Black lines.

The Buttons

The buttons on Hugo Boss polo shirts are always embossed with the logo, and are of very high quality. They are almost always manufactured from clear plastic, or mother of pearl. On items from the Boss Green line, one button may be stitched to the shirt with lime green thread.

The Label

Inside your item of clothing you will find a label stitched into the neck. It should read ‘BOSS’ in a large typeface, all in capitals. The subtitle will read ‘Hugo Boss’ and will be in a smaller font, but still in capitals. This logo is not printed, but stitched into the label itself. If the logo has been printed, then it is likely that some of the letters may be fading slightly, in which case, you have a fake.

The Care Label

The care label is also an important place to look when identifying a fake. A genuine item will always have every accent and cedilla on the foreign charachters - it is likely that a fake will not have these. There will be a small Quality Control sticker on the reverse of this label to show that the garment has passed the strict requirements at the Hugo Boss factory.

Materials

All Boss garments are made from incredibly high quality material - it should be soft, and have an intricate stitching pattern. As you can see in the first high-resolution photograph, the  complexity of the weave and attention to detail in the material is incredible.

Any logos on the garment itself will always be stitched in, not printed. Some T-Shirts will have the logo printed, but any polo shirts and other garments will most certainly have a stitched logo.
