The Materials

Dolce & Gabbana is intended to be the higher end line of the company’s clothing, and so the materials used during production are of incredible quality. The materials should feel soft and smooth to the touch, and will feel expensive. If your garment doesn’t feel perfect, it’s probably a fake.

The Stitching

Stitching on genuine Dolce & Gabbana clothing will always be neat, tight and free from imperfections. Usually the colour of the stitching will match the main colour of the garment, unless the sleek touch of contrast stitching has been incorporated into the design. It should not come loose after a few hours wear, and should definitely not be falling to pieces when it is fresh from the boutique.

D&G vs. Dolce & Gabbana

It is important to note that there are two main brands under the Dolce & Gabbana umbrella - D&G, which specialises in casual wear such as Jeans and T-Shirts, and Dolce & Gabbana, which specialises in formal wear, for example, shirts, ties and suits. A D&G garment will never have the full words Dolce & Gabbana upon it, and nor will a Dolce & Gabbana garment have the words D&G upon it. Counterfeiters often miss this important point and so this can be a very easy way of identifying a fake.
